Nathan is almost two!
Nathan is almost two and is changing all the time. In about the last 3-4 weeks he’s been talking a lot and making short sentences. He’ll repeat what we say to him and try out new words and phrases. We are done with the pacifier as of Sunday. We cut the nipples in half last week and he told me they were broken. We went to visit Sonya and Darran thursday night and I told him to give his paci to baby Natalie because she needed it. He said “no, mine” but I took it and gave it to her and I told him to say bye bye so he said “bye bye paci.” He didn’t use one that night or the next two nights then sunday for nap he must have found a hidden one so he used it then but then after his nap we cut it and he wanted to throw it away so he did and now we are completely done with them! We switched him back to the toddler bed a few weeks ago and we’ve had some rough times with that but it’s getting better each night. First, he was getting up really early each morning and coming to our room. Then for a few nights he’d start crying at random times and one of us would go in and sleep next to his bed on the floor to comfort him. Then we’ve struggled with getting him to sleep without one of us in there with him. I spent at least an hour each night for a few days laying on the floor, rocking him, and patting his back to try to get him to sleep. We’ve been practicing some tough love the past few days and it’s really working (along with all the praying!). I still rock him for a little bit then lay him down but when he cries we don’t rush in there and lay on the floor. It only took him a few minutes to go to sleep tonight. He says some funny things like “that mine?” and “Mama hold you” which really means “hold me”. He sings the Batman song, Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and the first 8 or so letters of the alphabet song. He can also count to around 8. He mimics whatever Noah does and they play well together. I feel like we’re at a point where I don’t have to constantly entertain them because they can play with each other while I’m fixing dinner or doing other things around the house. He loves to read books now like “Where the Wild Things Are” and the Dinosaur book and Old McDonald. He loves to look at the tractors and other equipment in the Fastline catalogs. His cow’s name is Elga and when I ask him what her name is he’ll tell me. He’s getting taller and wearing mostly 2T clothing now.
