Nathan counting, singing, talking

February 16th, 2010 Kourtney Aller No comments

Nathan is 26.5 months old and talking so well now!  His big thing now is “why?”  Every time I say something, he says “why?”  I tell him the sky is blue and he asks why.  It’s cute.  He’ll repeat almost anything we say.  Tonight we were reading a book and I told him something then he said “let me show you.”  He is such a mama’s boy.  He always wants me.  He wants me to rock him before bed every night.  He can count to ten and sing the alphabet song. He also sings Silent Night and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  He loves eating Cuties (clementines).  He and Noah run and play and have so much fun together!

Nathan is almost two!

November 17th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

Nathan is almost two and is changing all the time.  In about the last 3-4 weeks he’s been talking a lot and making short sentences.  He’ll repeat what we say to him and try out new words and phrases.  We are done with the pacifier as of Sunday.  We cut the nipples in half last week and he told me they were broken.  We went to visit Sonya and Darran thursday night and I told him to give his paci to baby Natalie because she needed it.  He said “no, mine” but I took it and gave it to her and I told him to say bye bye so he said “bye bye paci.”  He didn’t use one that night or the next two nights then sunday for nap he must have found a hidden one so he used it then but then after his nap we cut it and he wanted to throw it away so he did and now we are completely done with them!  We switched him back to the toddler bed a few weeks ago and we’ve had some rough times with that but it’s getting better each night.  First, he was getting up really early each morning and coming to our room.  Then for a few nights he’d start crying at random times and one of us would go in and sleep next to his bed on the floor to comfort him.  Then we’ve struggled with getting him to sleep without one of us in there with him.  I spent at least an hour each night for a few days laying on the floor, rocking him, and patting his back to try to get him to sleep.  We’ve been practicing some tough love the past few days and it’s really working (along with all the praying!).  I still rock him for a little bit then lay him down but when he cries we don’t rush in there and lay on the floor.  It only took him a few minutes to go to sleep tonight.  He says some funny things like “that mine?” and “Mama hold you” which really means “hold me”.  He sings the Batman song, Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and the first 8 or so letters of the alphabet song.  He can also count to around 8.  He mimics whatever Noah does and they play well together.  I feel like we’re at a point where I don’t have to constantly entertain them because they can play with each other while I’m fixing dinner or doing other things around the house.  He loves to read books now like “Where the Wild Things Are” and the Dinosaur book and Old McDonald.  He loves to look at the tractors and other equipment in the Fastline catalogs.  His cow’s name is Elga and when I ask him what her name is he’ll tell me.  He’s getting taller and wearing mostly 2T clothing now.

Big boy bed

September 15th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

Nathan started crawling out of his crib last week. One morning he just walked into our room. I asked Noah if he had helped Nathan out of his crib and he said no. We decided that it would be safer to convert his crib to a toddler bed rather than have him hurt himself or fall out. He also learned (through noah’s example) how to crawl into the crib. He went down easily tonight, just like usual. He didn’t once get out of bed. We’ll see how the rest of the night and tomorrow morning goes. He’s getting so big!

Nathan 19.5 months

July 12th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

My little baby isn’t so little anymore!  It seems like just the past  few weeks he’s really grown and changed.  He seems more mature, if  that’s possible.  He has added many new words to his growing  vocabulary.  He says balloon, Emmy, Mimi, KK, BooBoo, MaMa, Grampy  (says Beeby), Nonna, bo bo for brother, Hi Mommy, Hi Daddy, Night Night  Mommy, Night Night Daddy, I love you (not quite clear but I can tell what it is), Bye Bye Nonna, Uncle dud, Mubbs, Mack, Laura, Jamie, Zoe,  Lilly, shoe, cheese, popcorn, cupcake, nose, toes, kite, circle, star, moon, hot, up high, ear, hair, and lots of animals names and sounds.   When you ask him what a dog or a pig says he wrinkles up his nose and makes a snorting sound. It’s funny!  Last night he went into his room  and pointed at his crib and said “night night” so I put him in it and he laid down.  He also says paci.  He uses the paci when he takes a nap or sleeps at night but doesn’t get to use it any other time.  He loves shoes.  He will go get our shoes out of our closet and bring them to us to put on.  I bought him a new pair the other day and I tried them on his feet when we got home and he wouldn’t take them off.  He cried when I did and went and got them and brought them back to me to wear again.  He’ll eat fruit but not vegetables.  I guess I need to start pureeing them and hiding them in his food so he’ll get some of the nutritional stuff he needs!  He likes apple juice which he calls something like Appey Ju.  He’ll pick up the pretend phone and say “hello?”  He has really enjoyed swimming in the pool this summer.  He isn’t afraid to get his head or face wet.  If he’s in the baby pool and trips and his head goes under water he just stands right back up and doesn’t freak out.  He is a little stuntman and likes to climb up things.  He also will try to do anything Noah does, which isn’t always a good thing!  They are starting to wrestle more and chase each other around the house.  If he gets mad at Noah he will pull his hair.  We are working on that one.  He loves his teachers at school, Ms. Laura and Ms. Jamie, and he has a crush on Audrey. Overall, still easygoing and happy!  We couldn’t ask for a sweeter baby!

Nathan at 17 months

May 5th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

Nathan has a few new words and seems to be changing all the time.  He calls a 4-wheeler a “ro-ro” and he calls Elmo “Melmo.”  He is trying to mimic more words now.  He says “dow” which I think means down.  He has a certain word for drink that is something like “dink dink.”  He tried to say “mouse” today and he did without the “s”.  He had hand-foot-mouth disease two weeks ago and was miserable.  I took him to the doctor and he weighed a little over 25 pounds.  His personality is developing.  Today he was playing peek-a-boo with me.  At first he would bend down and hide behind the table then pop up at me.  He also covered his eyes with his hands and then would peek at me.  It was cute!

Nathan at 16.5 months

April 11th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

Nathan is changing a lot and learning many new things.  He now can drink from a straw.  He has a big appetite.  He eats more than Noah now!  He isn’t very picky either and eats what we feed him.  He says Mama, Dada, Nonna, ball, wow, BooBoo, Ella, tractor, night-night, and cracker and he’ll also repeat some words if we say them first like banana, cross, cookie.  He makes certain sounds for things like drink, Grampy, Noah.  He loves his squeaky shoes and wants to put them back on when I take them off at night.  One night I took them off and he picked them up, gave them to me, and held up his foot.  Today I was blowing air through my lips and he was trying to so he’d pucker them up and blow then he’d laugh.  He loves playing with cars and tractors and he pushes them around and says "bruummm brummm".  It’s really cute.  His new trick is crawling up on top of things then standing up and looking at us.  He crawls up on top of the side tables or chairs and does this.  He calls most animals Ella.  When he sees a cow or a duck he’ll make the right sounds for them.  He will also say turkey and frog and try to make their sounds as well.  He will give hugs and kisses too which is so sweet.  I’m not sure how tall he is or how much he weighs, but he has grown a lot lately.

Nathan’s 15-month update

March 8th, 2009 Kourtney Aller No comments

My little baby Nathan isn’t such a little baby anymore!  He has been walking on his own since about the middle of January.  Just this week he has been referring to me as Mama.  He says Mama, Dada, Ella, quack quack, moo, tractor followed by bruummm bruummm,  banana (sort of), and Elga (which is his cow).  He also has his own special word for Grampy that sounds like Adada.  He can identify several different things now like different types of animals, airplanes, cars, trucks, people, balls, etc.  He tries to say Noah and Brother but it comes out as his own special blend.  He eats all kinds of foods but he really likes pizza, ice cream, meatballs, and cottage cheese.  He really likes bananas too.  He’s in the Toddler 1 class at school and loves his teachers.  He is sleeping on a little cot which is funny to me!  When I check on him during his naptime at school he is usually alseep on his back while all the other little ones are on their tummies.  He loves the paci still, especially when he’s sleepy.  He’s into size 18-24 months and a shoe size 5.  He’s a sweet little boy who loves to read books and cuddle with his Mama.  He will bring books to us and grab our hands and place the book in them.  It’s funny!  Then when I ask him if he wants to sit in my lap to read the book he giggles and climbs in.  He’s a good sleeper.  He sleeps around 11-12 hours at night and normally takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoons.  He hasn’t taken a morning nap since back around August.  He follows Noah around and wants to do the things that he does.  He likes going to the zoo and is content to ride around in the stroller and look at all the animals.

August updates for Nathan

August 18th, 2008 Kourtney Aller No comments
Nathan is 8 ½ months and doing so great!  His schedule has been consistent for a few months now.  He eats five times per day.  He eats cereal and a bottle in the morning and at night.  For lunch and dinner he eats veggies, meat, and fruit with a bottle.  After his afternoon nap he also drinks a little bit of bottle as a snack.  He takes two naps: a short one in the morning and a long one in the afternoon.  For about 3 weeks now I have been laying him down in his crib and he’s been going to sleep on his own.  I usually turn the mobile on so he can watch it for a few minutes.  He is such a content and easy baby.  I can take him anywhere and he’s fine with sitting in the stroller or car seat.  He doesn’t complain and is content sitting there and watching things around him.   When I take them to the zoo or omniplex he takes in the scenery and is happy.

He has been sitting up for about a month and army crawls around.  He can get to wherever he wants to go even though he’s not all the way up on his hands and knees.  He is getting stronger each day.  He stands or pulls to standing with the help of our fingers.  When he’s standing and I ask him to dance he will.  We tried to give him some cereal puffs the other day and he kind of gagged on it and tried to take it out of his mouth.  He needs more practice.  He kept spitting his cereal out at me the other night and I told him NO and he thought that was really funny and was laughing hard at me.  Then it became a game.

He loves to jump in the jump-a-roo and he is so intrigued with Noah and all that he does.  He cracks up when Noah talks to him or sings to him.  If he and Noah are both on the floor he’ll try to grab Noah and play with him.  He has two bottom teeth and that’s it so far.

He has his 9 month check-up next week so I’ll have an update on his weight and length.  My sweet little baby will be a year old in a few months.  It’s unbelievable and makes me sad that my baby is growing up so fast.
