August updates for Nathan
Monday, 18 August 2008
Nathan is 8 ½ months and doing so great!  His schedule has been consistent for a few months now.  He eats five times per day.  He eats cereal and a bottle in the morning and at night.  For lunch and dinner he eats veggies, meat, and fruit with a bottle.  After his afternoon nap he also drinks a little bit of bottle as a snack.  He takes two naps: a short one in the morning and a long one in the afternoon.  For about 3 weeks now I have been laying him down in his crib and he’s been going to sleep on his own.  I usually turn the mobile on so he can watch it for a few minutes.  He is such a content and easy baby.  I can take him anywhere and he’s fine with sitting in the stroller or car seat.  He doesn’t complain and is content sitting there and watching things around him.   When I take them to the zoo or omniplex he takes in the scenery and is happy.

He has been sitting up for about a month and army crawls around.  He can get to wherever he wants to go even though he’s not all the way up on his hands and knees.  He is getting stronger each day.  He stands or pulls to standing with the help of our fingers.  When he's standing and I ask him to dance he will.  We tried to give him some cereal puffs the other day and he kind of gagged on it and tried to take it out of his mouth.  He needs more practice.  He kept spitting his cereal out at me the other night and I told him NO and he thought that was really funny and was laughing hard at me.  Then it became a game.

He loves to jump in the jump-a-roo and he is so intrigued with Noah and all that he does.  He cracks up when Noah talks to him or sings to him.  If he and Noah are both on the floor he’ll try to grab Noah and play with him.  He has two bottom teeth and that’s it so far.

He has his 9 month check-up next week so I’ll have an update on his weight and length.  My sweet little baby will be a year old in a few months.  It’s unbelievable and makes me sad that my baby is growing up so fast.

August updates for Noah
Monday, 18 August 2008
We have had a super busy summer but things are going great!   The boys went on their first plane ride in July when we went to Ohio.  Noah kept saying “1,2,3…blastoff” while we were on the runway.  He told me the other day that he had “lots of things to do.”  I asked him what they were and he said “hammer and nail and screw and drill.”  This is in reference to his Mickey toolbox.  He likes to eat at Cracker Barrel, Red Robin, and Interurban.  We were reading a Noah’s Ark book the other night and at the end Noah and all the animals were out of the ark and were walking away.  Noah asked me where they were going and I said I didn’t know.  He said “probably Los Tres” which is a Mexican restaurant.  The next time we read the book he told me they were going to Cracker Barrel.  He likes to get kid’s meals from Wayne’s and he eats a grilled cheese or a corn dog (which he calls a hot dog).

Nathan updates
Saturday, 10 May 2008
Nathan is getting so big and changing all the time.  He loves to jabber.  When we talk to him his face lights up and he smiles or laughs at us.  He adores Noah also.  Noah talks to him and Nathan watches his face and smiles at him.  He also loves Mickey Mouse.  When I turn on the tv for Noah to watch Nathan is fascinated with Mickey and smiles at him.  He got baptized on April 27.  The cool thing about that date is that he was 5 months old that day but it's also the date that Ryan and I started dating in 1996.  Ryan and I had been together 12 years on the day he was baptized.  We stopped swaddling him at night a few weeks ago and he's doing fine. He sleeps from about 8:30pm-7:30am.  He has figured out that he can travel around the room by rolling.  We started him on cereal this last week and it's hysterical to watch him eat it.  He sometimes sticks his tongue out or does the "motorboat" where he spits it out at us.  He is wearing size 6 months now.  He is a very good-natured baby.  He is laid back and doesn't cry or fuss unless he's hungry or tired.

Noah cracks us up
Saturday, 10 May 2008
I can't believe how Noah is his own independent little person now.  He loves to golf.  If we give him a club and a ball he will hit it around the backyard for an hour.  He swings so hard that he has broken all of the plastic clubs.  He is also left-handed and the clubs are right-handed so he hits them all backwards.  We finally got him a real set of clubs this week that are left-handed.  They are so cute--metal with a little bag and everything.  This week I caught him climbing out of his crib.  I went to check on him during his nap and he had one leg over the side, so we decided to convert his crib to a toddler bed.  We took the front rail off and put up the toddler rail, so now he can get in and out of bed on his own.  The first night he didn't realize that he could get up.  He realized it the second night though and kept getting out of bed and opening the door and coming out to see what we were doing.  I finally told him to go to bed and I went and held on to the door knob so he couldn't open it.  I heard him trying to open the door from the other side and when he couldn't he laid down on the floor and looked under the door.  He said "I see you" and I started cracking up.  I told him to get in bed and he did and slept all night without coming back out of his room.   He remembers people's names and things that happened several weeks ago.  He will also repeat anything we say so we have to be careful about what we say around him.  He is so excited about this summer because he tells us that Mimi has a swimming pool in her backyard and he wants to go swimming.  He will move up to the older class this summer at MDO and I'm excited because I think his teachers are moving up with him and I really like them.

Noah's 2 and talking our legs off!
Monday, 14 April 2008
Noah is now 2 and he's absolutely wonderful and entertaining.  He got so many toys for his birthday and he wants to play with them all at the same time.  He loves his baseball set and basketball goal.  Today, we pulled into the garage and he saw the basketball goal box.  He said, "Mommy, thank you for getting me a basketball goal."  I was in total shock that he said it.  He told me the exact same thing about 5 different times after that.  We went to a wedding and reception on Saturday and they were having the mother/son dance and Noah looked at me and said, "I want to dance with Mommy."  Everyone at the table said, "awwwww."  He can sing the whole alphabet song and also count to 25.  He sings lots of songs also.  He sings Happy Birthday,  Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Ring Around the Rosey, Elmo's World, and the Clean Up song.  On his two-year check-up he weighed 30 pounds and was about 33.5 inches tall.  He wouldn't quite stand still for the height measurement but that's about as close as we could guess.  He talks all the time and wants to know what everything is.  He also wants to know everyone's name and he's good at remembering them.  He knows his full name, Nathan's full name, my full name, Ryan's full name, Nonna's full name, Grampy's full name, and Uncle Dud's full name.
